The Cast Of “Tomorrow, When The War Began” Then Vs. Now

Spread the love

It’s been 11 years and I still demand a sequel.

Caitlin Stasey (Ellie Linton)

Paramount Pictures, Epix

After scoring the role of Ellie in Tomorrow, When The War Began, Stasey went on to appear in Please Like Me, Reign, APB, I, Frankenstein and For The People. She also launched a feminist website aimed at empowering women in 2015 (which hasn’t been updated since) and currently plays Jill in Bridge And Tunnel.

Rachel Hurd-Wood (Corrie McKenzie)

Hurd-Wood’s biggest role after playing Corrie was in Clique, which she currently stars in. Along the way, she appeared in Hideaways, The Mapmaker and Second Origin. Oh, and if you follow Hurd-Wood on Instagram, you’ll notice a bunch of cute photos of her family and the pilates classes she teaches.

Lincoln Lewis (Kevin Holmes)

Post Tomorrow, When The War Began, Lewis had success with roles in SliDE, Underbelly: Razor, Tricky Business, House Husbands and Gallipoli. Although he hasn’t acted in anything since 2019, he is currently co-hosting a podcast called Strength Sessions.

Deniz Akdeniz (Homer Yannos)

Paramount Pictures, HBO

Look, I watched The Flight Attendant and didn’t even clock the connection until I wrote this post. But yes, Akdeniz — who played Homer in Tomorrow, When The War Began, has been doing pretty well for himself. As mentioned before, he’s had notable roles in The Flight Attendant, as well as Siren, Once Upon A Time (playing Aladdin, no less) and Graceland.

Phoebe Tonkin (Fiona “Fifi” Maxwell)

Since Tomorrow, When The War Began, Tonkin has had considerable success, both in Australia and internationally. Some of her biggest roles include The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Safe Harbour and Bloom. Most recently, she appeared in a couple Westworld eps and wrote and directed her first short film, Furlough, which was screened at film festivals around the world.

Chris Pang (Lee Takkam)

Despite the success of Tomorrow, When The War Began, Pang didn’t score much traction, resulting in his move to Hollywood in 2013. That led to apperances in I, Frankenstein, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny and Marco Polo. But, it wasn’t until Pang’s roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Charlie’s Angels that his stardom really took off.

Ashleigh Cummings (Robyn Mathers)

There’s no doubt you recognise Cummings, who went on to play Debbie Vickers in the popular Aussie series called Puberty Blues, as well as Dorothy “Dot” Williams in Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. She’s also racked up acting credits in Gallipoli, Westside, Hounds Of Love, The Goldfinch and NOS4A2.

Andy Ryan (Chris Lang)

Since Tomorrow, When The War Began, Ryan’s most notable roles were in INXS: Never Tear Us Apart and Love Child. He’s since segued into running theatre sport workshops.

Now, let’s see if we can’t round up the cast for one of those reunion table reads.

Paramount Pictures

This may or may not be just be an excuse to see more Chris Pang and Deniz Akdeniz on my screen — but so what, it’s DESERVED.
