Job Summary:

The Finance Expert in an agricultural firm is responsible for managing financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure the organization’s financial health and growth. The role involves analyzing financial data, evaluating investment opportunities, and providing strategic insights to optimize resource allocation and profitability. The Finance Expert plays a crucial role in maintaining financial compliance and supporting decision-making processes in the agricultural sector.

Reports To: CEO and Business Director

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and monitor annual budgets for agricultural operations.
  • Analyze and forecast financial performance, including cash flow, profit margins, and expenses.

2. Investment Analysis:

  • Evaluate investment opportunities in agricultural projects and recommend viable options.
  • Conduct financial feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.

3. Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present accurate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to senior management.

4. Cost and Revenue Management:

  • Analyze production costs and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Monitor revenue streams and ensure timely collection of receivables.

5. Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks related to agricultural operations and investments.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage market, credit, and operational risks.

6. Financial Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits to maintain transparency and accountability.

7. Funding and Capital Management:

  • Explore and secure funding opportunities, including grants, loans, and partnerships.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and investors.

8. Financial Strategy and Advisory:

  • Provide strategic financial advice to support business expansion and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

9. Data Analysis and Technology Integration:

  • Implement financial technology tools to streamline accounting and reporting processes.
  • Analyze financial data to drive decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, ACCA, ICAN) are highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in the agricultural or agribusiness sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, investment analysis, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
