Role Summary
The Food Consultant will lead Farm to Feed’s efforts in refining food products, crafting a market-entry strategy, and launching a pilot project with an international customer. This role requires expertise in food product development, export planning, and regulatory compliance.
Location: Remote/Hybrid (with occasional travel)

How This Role Fits into Farm to Feed
This position is crucial in ensuring Farm to Feed’s food products meet global market standards. By optimizing products and developing an effective market-entry strategy, the consultant will directly contribute to the organization’s mission of reducing food loss, supporting smallholder farmers, and improving food system sustainability.
Key Responsibilities1. Product Refinement
- Evaluate and optimize products for market readiness, quality, and appeal.
- Ensure all products comply with food safety and regulatory standards.
2. Go-to-Market & Export Strategy
- Conduct market research to understand target consumers and trends.
- Develop customer profiles and establish key partnerships, including co-manufacturers.
- Design distribution, pricing, and sales strategies aligned with international trade standards.
3. Pilot Project Implementation
- Support and monitor the pilot project to establish foundations for scalability.
4. Reporting & Communication
- Provide regular progress updates to Farm to Feed’s leadership team.
- Conduct a mid-project review to assess deliverable progress and address challenges.
- Submit a final report summarizing outcomes, strategies, and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food product development, export planning, and market strategy.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and international trade compliance.
- Track record of successfully launching products in global markets.
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
