I ask that because, during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, the veteran TV and film actor revealed that she does not, in fact, go by “Katherine” in her private life.

“No one calls me Katherine,” she said. “It sounds much more sophisticated right? Like an adult named Katherine. It helps me separate my work from me if that makes sense. I just had to embrace it.”

Indeed, when it comes to her personal life, “Katherine” actually prefers to be called Katie. Who knew! Well, Barrymore, for one, who referred to the actor as such during the interview.
“Do you feel like you have those two women running around inside you?” Barrymore asked, to which Heigl replied: “I do feel that way. I feel like I can present as Katherine when I need to but most of the time I am just Katie.”
